NYSUT Retirees Beware!

NYSTRS Mobile App Scam

On April 13, 2023, NYSTRS released a statement regarding a fraudulent mobile app claiming the "NYS Retirement" App is currently available on Google Play (https://www.nystrs.org/About-Us/Press-Room/Headlines/Beware-of-Fake-NYS-Retirement-Mobile-App). Thankfully, this App is no longer available on Google Play or the App Store. The “NYS Retirement” App was not affiliated with NYSTRS. Fraudulent Apps like this attempt to steal your personal data.

Please note that NYSTRS does offer a valid, secure mobile app titled "NYSTRS Mobile". NYSTRS suggests you periodically visit their Beware of NYSTRS Imposters page (https://www.nystrs.org/Contact/Imposters) for important tips to protect yourself from scammers.

What You Should Do?
If you think your personal identity has been compromised, contact NYSTRS immediately at (800) 348-7298, Ext. 6190 to discuss options for adding a theft of ID flag to your System account. This will notify staff to take extra care in authenticating your identity before sharing specific information over the phone or processing any transactions. You can also choose a flag that limits access to your account (https://secure.nystrs.org/MyNYSTRS/).
